Nearby activities throughout Costa Rica include: scuba diving, volcano, kayaking, numerous national parks, horseback riding, waterfalls, ATV riding, float trips, Canopy walks and zip lines, surfing, parasailing, jet skiing

Scuba Diving: There are two scuba shops in Playa Hermosa that offer trips for half and full days. Prices are moderate. They can fully outfit all customers with gear. In the waters within a few miles of house white-tip and other sharks have been seen, octopi, giant eagle rays, beautiful schools of fish, beautiful coral reefs, and schools of dolphins have been swum with by past residents of the house.

Volcano: An inactive volcano resides about one hour from Playa Hermosa called El Rincon de Vieja. Here, there are waterfalls, rainforest hikes and zip-line tours, hot mud baths, ATV rides. An active volcano can be visited called Arenal which is closer to San Jose. This volcano can be seen "erupting at twilight while we drank margaritas," as one former resident said.

Kayaking: Can rent sea kayaks, banana boat rides, jet skis on Playa Hermosa's beach.

Horse Back Riding and Surfing: As well as in other locations in Northwest Costa Rica, people can ride horses on the beach and learn to surf in nearby Tamarindo Beaches

Other events include Bull fights in town next over Sardinal, market shopping in Playa Coca and Playa Ocotal, City shopping in Liberia, and gambling at Casinos and dance clubs and bars in Playa Coca, 12 minutes away by car.
